The art of French Haircutting- the dry haircut
What is French haircutting?
French haircutting is an artistic and organic approach to cutting hair that marries the eye of the cutter to the movement in the hair.
Who has the best texture for French haircutting?
The best texture for French haircutting is those who identify their hair texture as mostly straight to medium wavy. That does not mean curlier textures can’t enjoy this method. They just have to put in a little more effort to get that perfectly undone look.
I got a French Haircut now how do I take care of it?
I live in a climate that is very hot and very dry. My best advice to prolong your haircut is to apply moisture treatments as needed. Hair tends to be drier on the ends and requires triple the moisture that the hair closest to the scalp does. Color Wow Money Mask is the perfect treatment to keep your hair moisturized, shiny and healthy without weighing it down. Use a detangling wide tooth comb to ensure all the hair ends are saturated. Rinse and blot dry with a microfiber hair towel. When your hair is about 50% dry add a small amount of volume foam to the roots, I love ColorWow Xtra Large, and a leave in for sun/heat protection that doubles as sculpting paste for a soft, touchable finish, Olaplex No.6 or ColorWow One Minute styling paste. Use hair oil as needed, I like Olaplex No.7.
How did I become a master French Haircutter?
I studied from the master himself, Charles Ifergan. Charles brought a fresh perspective to the American hair scene in the 80’s becoming a leading innovator and trendsetter. His celebrity client list exploded. He was featured on countless magazine covers & tv shows (regular on Oprah) and showed the world anyone can have a French Haircut. He then took his passion for haircutting by teaching his method in a vigorous apprenticeship. By studying under him I was able to learn the true artistry of the craft. It is hard to explain but It is how your hair feels in my hands and falls around your head shape. Every haircut is unique because so is every head.
Are you ready for a French Haircut in Phoenix?
When you arrive for first haircut with me all I ask is that you leave your hair in its natural state, minimal product and no more than two days since your last shampoo. I need to have full visibility of all your texture, growth patterns, cowlicks, whirls, shifts in density/texture and observe your hair in its natural state. Please refrain from buns, topknots, braids or anything that can alter your natural texture.
